Motability is a registered charity which helps disabled people and their families in the UK to become more mobile. It was set up on the initiative of the Government in 1977, to provide vehicles and powered wheelchairs to disabled people.

Special terms have been arranged with Kia, as well as other motor manufacturers, wheelchair and vehicle adaptation suppliers, banks and insurers so that today a variety of schemes can be offered to enable disabled people to become more mobile.

Motability offers two different schemes to help disabled people obtain a vehicle:

Contract Hire
The vast majority of Motability customers choose to obtain and pay for a brand new car through the Motability Contract Hire Scheme. It is available over a three year period on selected models. You have to give up part or all of your allowance and, where applicable, pay an Advanced Payment. All maintenance, servicing, comprehensive insurance and full breakdown assistance for the vehicle, provided by RAC, are included in the agreement.

Hire Purchase Scheme
You may prefer to purchase your vehicle under a Hire Purchase agreement. You can select a hire purchase option over 4 or 5 years using the Motability Hire Purchase Scheme for New Vehicles, or a 2 or 3 year option for a Used Vehicle. Special rates of finance and special discounts are available from Motability Finance Ltd, depending on the model you choose.
